From research to the classroom: a scientific ecosystem for dyscalculia
Dyscalculia Academy exists to turn academic work on mathematical learning difficulties into tools that parents, teachers and specialists can actually use.
Why we exist
In Türkiye, one or two children in every classroom are at risk of dyscalculia, yet for many years screening tools, teaching materials and teacher training were missing. Dyscalculia Academy closes that gap on three fronts: screening normed on Turkish samples, concrete and digital intervention tools, and certified training.
Our work draws on research at Muş Alparslan University, the field experience of the Dyscalculia Association of Türkiye (founded 2017) and the use of DokunSay materials in schools.
Founder
Prof. Dr. Yılmaz Mutlu

Working in mathematics education and educational neuroscience, Yılmaz Mutlu developed the Multiple Filter Model for identifying dyscalculia, designed the DokunSay family of tactile materials, and authored the first Turkish studies on finger counting, clock reading and maths anxiety in this population.
His peer-reviewed articles, books and chapters have received more than 777 citations. He is the author of "Beyond the Numbers: A Scientific Look at Mathematics Learning Difficulty" (2024, in Turkish).
