Dyscalculia Academy

Galaksay · Intervention Platform

Numbers are the language of the universe: Galaksay

For children aged 5–9 (preschool to grade 3) at risk of dyscalculia or struggling with maths: an adaptive journey from number sense to multiplication. No speed races, no leaderboards; every child progresses on their own planet.

8
Planets, each a skill domain from counting to patterns
73
Modes across 5 levels (Beginner → Master); upper levels unlock via the Captain's Exam
9
Measured constructs: counting, number sequence, subitising, comparison, number line, number bonds, place value, arithmetic, multiplication
21
Misconception patterns, each referenced to the literature

How it works

  1. 01

    Profile

A Numap screening or short entry tasks set the starting point; planets open according to age band.

  2. 02

    Adaptive tasks

Bayesian knowledge tracing adjusts difficulty after every answer. Accuracy comes before speed.

  3. 03

    Misconception alerts

A repeated error, a level drop or a rise in risk appears as an alert on the teacher dashboard.

  4. 04

    Dosage protocol

8–12 weeks × 3–4 days a week × 15–20 minutes; then 1–2 days a week for maintenance. The dashboard tracks dosage.

Who is it for?

  • Parents

15-minute sessions at home; progress summary and a to-do list.

  • Teachers

Class list, per-child trajectory map, misconception report, curriculum mapping.

  • Specialists

Construct-level profile, exportable (anonymised) data, evidence page.

Evidence and limits

  • Galaksay is not a diagnostic tool. Screening and diagnosis require Numap and a professional assessment.
  • Evidence level: ESSA Tier 4 (demonstrates a rationale). Content rests on number-sense, CRA and misconception research; a Galaksay-specific efficacy study is planned.
  • Data stays on the device; central sync only with explicit consent, research export with separate consent and anonymised.
  • Languages: Turkish, English and Kurmanji, including game text, voice-over and guide dialogues.
